A very easy monthly check is to look at and clean your air filters and dust hotspots. That includes AC filters, purifier pre-filters if you have one, and even the backs of fans and vents. If they’re caked in dust, it’s a sign that your indoor air is carrying a lot of particles.
Remove AC filters, wash or vacuum them according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and let them dry before putting them back. Wipe ceiling fan blades, exhaust covers and any vents you can reach safely. Notice how quickly dust builds back up in a month.
You can also pay attention to simple “human signals”: do you feel your nose clog up more inside the house? Do you see a film of dust on furniture within a day or two of cleaning? Are there strong smells that never fully leave?
You don’t need fancy meters to start improving air quality. Regularly cleaning the things that move and filter air inside your home makes a quiet but real difference.
