It sounds too simple, but yes, making the bed every morning changes the entire feel of the bedroom. The bed is usually the largest surface in the room. When it’s messy, the whole space looks chaotic, even if everything else is fairly clean. When it’s neatly made, your eye reads the room as “under control” even if there are a few things out of place.
You don’t have to create hotel-style perfection. Just straighten the sheet, pull up the blanket or duvet, fluff the pillows, and smooth things out. It takes one or two minutes once you’re used to it.
This small habit also sets a tone for the day. You’ve completed one tidy action immediately, and that often leads to other small actions like putting clothes in the basket instead of on the chair.
At night, getting into a made bed feels better than climbing into tangled covers. You’re giving yourself a tiny moment of calm at the start and end of each day.
